Lynn Minmay - Silver Moon, Red Moon
超時空要塞マクロス 愛・おぼえていますか ‘84
There’s an update of this song by Tomo Sakurai (Mylene Sings Minmay) where the chorus is changed from:
CHIRUBAA MOON REDDO MOON
to
SILVER MOON REEHD MOON
If there’s an Iijima Mari version (live or what not) that also reflects this change (Iijima’s been an American for over a decade after all) I want to hear it. You can respond to my twitter.

Today, my toys, figures, and model kits go to storage and I feel kind of sad. Here are photos of them in the boxes I put them in, but also here are the photos of when I first got them.
While there is nothing like the feeling of being a kid who got a toy as a present, there’s nothing, NOTHING like being able to buy expensive toys for yourself as an adult. I was kind of poor growing up and didn’t get to buy many of the toys I coveted.
It was only when I was already married (no exorbitant wedding to pay for, and having the BEST WIFE IN THE GALAXY), earning a good wage, and not having a kid yet to support when I had the kind of disposable income to gratify myself with toy purchases. Anime DVDs aren’t distributed here in the Philippines, but manga and toys are (remarkable considering most of the shows featuring the toys are often not shown or distributed locally).
So I opened my fan wallet for the toys.
Alas, I can no longer do this. I have a daughter now, and pretty soon she’ll start walking. Not only does buying expensive toys, video games, and gratuitous gadgets fail to make sense in light of preparing for my daughter’s future (and gratifying her future toy preferences), she poses a clear and present danger to the toys I have on display (and vice-versa).
So, into storage they all go. Someday when she’s a little older and perhaps somehow appreciative of robot anime and their merchandise, it’ll be time to take these all out for display.

This is a rough draft, born out of a reply to this comment.
Regarding the “authentic” fan (vs/ the fake or inauthentic fan), I shudder. I have my own ideas on what being a fan really is, but I realize that it’s pretty extreme and each fandom would probably benefit from a scale or something that doesn’t measure authenticity, but rather intensity.
A rough draft for Macross (from least intense to most intense):
7. Watched either SDF Macross or Macross Frontier. Liked it enough to recommend it to others, purchase some merchandise/use desktop wallpapers/ring tones, etc. but not interested enough to see the rest of the franchise.
6. Have seen at least two shows and like them a lot, manifest some of the behaviors above, but not as interested to complete the franchise.
5(b). Watched Macross 7 and hated it.
5(a). Watched Macross 7 and loved it.
4. Completed the canon, reads manga when translated, collects images and related illustrations. Listens regularly to the OSTs.
3. Completed the canon, reads manga when translated, collects images and related illustrations. Listens regularly to the OSTs; and favors the franchise as a whole over other things s/he likes, even if s/he acknowledges them to be superior in some (or many ways).
2. Completed the canon, has seen Lovers Again, reads manga when translated, collects images and related illustrations. Listens regularly to the OSTs; and favors the franchise as a whole over other things s/he likes, even if s/he acknowledges them to be superior in some (or many ways). Expresses love for Macross through various expressions (which may include blogging, fanfiction, participating in collective fan activities, creating self-made fan peripherals). This is me.
1. Does all the above, and makes it a point to visit Japan to watch concerts, buy original merchandise, participate in fan activities involving first-generation fans. Has photos of himself/herself with Kawamori, Kanno, Itano„ Ishiguro and/or Mikimoto.
Again, this is very rough and unrefined, but I wanted to present an alternative to the authentic/inauthentic fan binary.
